Most illustrations of cat forelimb muscular anatomy depict the cat from a lateral view with the leg extended. This illustration instead shows the cat in a natural and relaxed crouched position and, when combined with more standard depictions, gives students a better appreciation of how muscles drive movement and therefore how they look different in different positions. For example, the triceps are more relaxed, the clavobrachialis is flexed, and the infraspinatus is more easily visible.
